Diane Macksood

MACKSOOD, Diane (St. Germain) - Age 81, of Flint and Fenton, passed away on, November 9, 2019. Funeral mass will be celebrated 11 AM Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide St. Fenton with Fr. Bill Lugger celebrant. Interment will be held 3 PM Wednesday at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Flint. Visitation will be held 2-8 PM Tuesday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 W. Silver Lake Rd., Fenton where a rosary will be prayed at 7 PM Tuesday. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Catholic Charities of Genesee County, Food Bank of Eastern Michigan, or the local charity of one's choice. Diane was born on December 31, 1937 in Flint, MI, the oldest child of Reginald and Doris (Thompson) St. Germain.  Diane graduated from St. Matthew Catholic High School and then went on to earn a Nursing degree from St. Joseph School of Nursing in Flint. In 1959, Diane met (on a blind date) and married, Leo Joseph Macksood on October 31. Later she went to manage her husband’s financial planning business Diane always knew her purpose in life was to care for others. She was blessed with a strong faith in God. She and Leo raised three beautiful children. Her commitment to her husband, family, faith and community gave her great pride and joy.
Diane was an active volunteer at St. Luke’s and Our Lady of Lebanon Catholic Church.  She enjoyed traveling with her family and weekend getaways with her cousins Marilyn and Loretta.  Diane’s greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren. She made holidays special with family gatherings of endless food and playing the piano and singing carols.  She could never resist stopping by a garage sale or craft show.  She especially enjoyed the Friday night dinners with her friends. Diane’s beautiful smile, sense of humor and faith in God gave her courage to overcome adversity throughout her life.
Diane leaves to remember her: son, Joseph Leo (Lisa Bolton); daughter, Janet; granddaughters, Elizabeth and Natalie; three sister-in-law, Mary (Joe) Conroy, Betty (Richard) Ramsdell, and Janice Macksood; brother-in-law, Tom (Holly) Macksood; cousins, 27 nieces, nephews and their spouses; many great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by: her husband, Leo; her daughter, Julie, infant children, Jane Mary, twins, John and Regina, and Abraham; parents, Reginald and Doris St. Germain; brother, Michael St. Germain;  parents-in-law, Louis and Nimrie Macksood; daughter-in-law, Jacqueline Macksood; sisters-in-law, Catherine and Donald Roda, Louise and Bob Jubenville; sister-in-law, Linda Macksood.
