Cory Russell

Russell, Cory - Age 39, of Swartz Creek, passed away September 10, 2022. Services will be held 5 PM Friday September 16 at Sharp Funeral Homes,  8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek (A live stream of the service will be available to view at Cory's page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.) Rev. Dr. Mary Lloyd officiating. Visitation will be held 3 PM until the time of the service on Friday September 16. In lieu of flowers those desiring may make contributions to the Flint Institute of Music to be directed to children's programs .

There has never been any one so Cory.  He was a talented musician, artist, and writer.  He was a fan of fashion, pop-culture, and literature. He was  teacher and life-long student.  Cory was born September 7, 1983 in Flint, MI. He graduated from Carman-Ainsworth High School in 2001. He attended Purdue University and then earned his Bachelors from the University of Michigan. He was nominated for the Maize and Blue Award from U of M.

But what made Cory so special was his ability to find beauty and joy wherever he went, and if there wasn’t any, he created it.

The people who knew him longest, loved him most.  He is survived by , his mother Mariellen Russell with husband Daniel Kutchey; his father Jan Russell with wife Mary Poole; his brother Patrick Russell with his wife Beth Kluger Russell and their daughters Molly and Lucy; his brother Trevor Russell with his wife Raeanne Silver and their son Ari.

And if you were lucky enough to consider Cory a friend, you’ve experienced his genuine sweetness.
